Thanks Julian
That's sorted that then!

Thanks for all the replies, will strip and overhaul when it gets a bit colder.

I finally got round to stripping the forks off yesterday and I found that they are indeed a10 or I am pretty sure they are.
No damper rod.
There was a clunking on the LHS leg and when I took it apart I noted that the bottom nut was loose and the bottom bush could be spun. I also noted that there are no shins fitted to either forks.
Lastly which I found a bit strange, there was very little oil in the legs.
The bushes measure pretty much the same as what I have found in the net. It looks like someone has previously changed them as the seals look pretty new so the probably forgot to fill the legs up!

Could anyone point me to where the best place for shims is please, or does anyone have any that they would be able to part with?
Thank you

Greenfield

I've just ordered a set of fork shims (4 thicknesses) for my B40 from Feked. They're a common part in many models but check your spares catalogue for part numbers. I think they're also available separately from Draganfly but you'll need to know what thickness you'll need before ordering.

Thanks for that, when I get to put them back together I will measure up and go from there

Re the clicking.  If this is when pushing the bike against the brake, check that it is not the brake plate.  The lug on A10 forks is sometimes a bit thinner than A65 allowing the brake plate to move slightly.

Dave.

Thanks Dave
I will make sure I check when I put it back together.

You can do away with the shims and the circlip (which can be difficult to remove and replace) and replace them with the spacer (or widget) used in A65 1966-1968 damper rod forks. The small diameter end sits on the top edge of the top bush and the large diameter goes into the oil seal holder and  sits on the ouside edge of the oil seal. Stops the chatter when there is a gap between bush and circlip. Part 68 5134.

Hi Julian
Thanks
Will look into that as looks like a good solution

Re the Clicking. The Triumph Brake Plate has a larger slot for the fork anchor than the BSA so if they are BSA Forks, the plate will flap about.
We did a Tech article in The Star sometime ago about this. Another one (about the Eddy Dow brakes etc.) is coming along in the next couple of months.
I will look up older one and give everyone the heads up on which edition it was in.

Thanks Chris
Im pretty sure it does have that set up and the clicking was from that side too.
