Voltage Regulator for C15?

My bike has a Boyer MKIV electronic ignition system for "BSA Single Cylinder 6v. I've just been trying to find some info on it. There's a note from Boyer on their website sayin:

"This 6 volt system is not recommended for bikes running with alternators.  Bikes fitted with alternator charging systems had no voltage regulation fitted, they relied on the battery to control the voltage.  If the battery gets old/ faulty or disconnected when the engine is running, the voltage from the bikes rectifier will rise to high levels, enough to damage a retrofitted electronic ignition unit.  This is not a problem on bikes fitted with dynamo generators as all dynamos use a dynamo regulator charge controller, fitted from the factory.  If this system is fitted to a motorcycle with a 6v alternator a zener diode or some protection from overvoltage must be fitted as the warranty will not cover units damaged by excess voltage"

I can't find anything like this on my bike so do I simply run with the lights on which I will anyway or do I need to fit something to protect? If so, what would be suitable and how does it wire in? Does the rectifier remain or do I buy a regulator/rectifier combined?

Thanks

Hi Blackthou,

I fitted the same ignition to the c12 last year & fitted one of these from Rex Caunt which is a 6 volt regulator rectifier, just google Rex Caunt.
