Afternoon all, hope you are keeping safe at this time. Im looking for advice re: A10 carburettors.

I have a restored and immaculate 1960 golden flash. The carb on the bike now is an Amal monobloc with 389/67 stamped into the casting of the carb flange. I was under the impression the bike should have a monobloc 276 carb? However im not so sure. This could have been an upgrade or just a quick replacement at some point perhaps.
I have overhauled it with new parts and jets etc and it works great and is jetted to bsa recommendations. But if it isnt correct, i may require an original item.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Are you sure about a 276 this is the carb for pre 1955. Do you mean a 376 which for an A10 is usually 1 1/16 inch.  The 389 usually starts at 1 1/8 inch. If the bike runs ok with the 389 I wouldn't worry about it. My B33 has been running for years with a 389 instead of a 376.

The carb you have is for a BSA A65 the correct one is 389/45 but the one you have is exactly the same as the correct one the only difference is the A65 has 300 main jet and the correct one has a 250 main jet so as long as you have it jetted correctly then it is perfectly OK.

Thanks for the response. Im sure when i jetted it, i did it to the A10 specs. Runs spot on with lovely colour on the plugs. I thought it was an A65 carb, as thats what i read.

RESTORER

According to the Amal book, the last GF to be fitted with a 276 was the 56-58 swinging arm.  The 59 model is shown as having a 376/214 and your GF 1960 is shown fitted with either a 389/45 for the home market or a 389/48 for export. See attached from the book for some further info and sizes.  Ignore any markings, they are for my 1954 S/A Flash. I will be starting a new topic for the 276GG/1DB, its driving me nuts! Hope this helps.

my A10 1955 runs a 376/80. no air filter and extended float bowl.
without taking it apart I cant honestly say that is what is inside it.
but then, its not built for speed!! but runs ok on it

about to get mine ready to go again, the slide felt sticky , throttle stiff and not returning. So take it apart and check...
what a mess, its been sat with old ethanol fuel in for a while all of which has evaporated and left a green slime everywhere and a stringy substance in the fuel cut off area.
its a 1952  plunger with a 1950 engine both Gold Flash plungers , its running a /80 as above which is for the 1957-59 Golden flash , the only difference is running a 190 main jet and not the later 240
