am I right in thinking that the A65 output sleeve gear bushes are split type if so what prevents oil leaking through, I know that there are solid bushes available, which are better? thanks for any thoughts/opinions, cheers, Ralphy

These bushes are formed from  flat steel sheet with a thin deposit of bearing material applied. When pressed into the gear the split will close up giving the correct clearance for the shaft.

The solid bronze bushes can wear a groove where the oil seal in the plate in the chaincase bears on its surface, this can give an oil leak. The steel outer of the "split" bushes are better at resisting this wear.

It is very easy to damage the thin deposit on a "split" bush should it need reaming to size.

Hi Julian, thanks for the info, it looks to me that both types have advantages and disadvantages, I shall look around and see what is available and then make my mind up on which to use, cheers, Ralphy
