Hi all! I want to fit a grab-rail to my Goldstar Clubman. The part number is 92-9173.  I believe it is meant to attach to Top of the "hockey stick" mudguard stay (where the normal lifting handle fits), but I don't know where the rear lugs attach.  Does it attach to the mudguard or do I have fit an extra mudguard bridge to fix it to. Any info great, a picture of one fitted, even better! Richard.

Don't know if this helps - from 1962 west coast US brochure - doesn't really show much detail.

Hello JAB! I have seen this already on the "BSA range" images on this site. Sometimes in these images, you can just make out what appear to be bolts holding the grab-rail to the mudguard, just forward of the very rear of the seat. sometimes not. As these are "Artists impressions" and not photographs it is hard to judge if they are accurate. Also, there is no detail to show if there is any additional re-enforcement necessary for the mudguard??? I would love a photo of a grab-rail actually in place!

I have a BSA grab rail that came off the 1957 Road Rocket I owned many years ago. I will look it out and have a look. I can't remember exactly how it fitted but, as I recall it fitted at the front to the rear mudguard stay mounts, as in JABBA99's illustration above. The rear mountings are two tabs which, if I  remember correctly, are bolted directly to the rear mudguard which would need holes drilled to suit.

Hi Derek! Thanks for your input! If you could find it and make a detailed sketch or whatever, that would be great! I believe that there were at least three versions of the BSA grab-rail,including one for the 1960 onwards Sports Twins with blade type mudguards. This looks the same design in the parts books, but the 1960 onwards twins, although they had very similar mudguard bracketry, had a seat that was about an inch longer ,so maybe that is the difference. Anyway, the 1957 Rocket grab-rail may be the same as the Goldstar??? So, that would be much appreciated!

Sorry I haven't managed to locate the grab rail yet. It's in my attic - somewhere!
