Goldstar 650 seat

While, initially, the low seat height on the Goldstar 650 was appealing (and still is) I have found that, combined with the comparatively high footpegs, over long distances it leaves my legs scrunched up more than I'd like giving me aching hips.

Anyone else found this to be the case?

In the short term I have found that one of the Oxford Air Pad comfort seat accessories has lifted my rear up by an inch providing significant relief, although 1" is just about its limit.

Ideally I'd like to get the seat re-upholstered with another inch of padding - it'll probably required a new seat cover as it looks to me like the current one won't stretch that much. Normally, I'd get another second-hand seat e.g. from a breakers, off eBay etc., to experiment on, keeping the original intact should it all go wrong, however second hand seats seem to be in very short supply or non-existent online.

Has anyone else had their seat modified in similar fashion and what solutions worked or what suppliers were able to undertake the work for you?

Have you thought about lowering the footrests instead? If you do go down the seat route, there's a good bike upholsterer near me in sunny Redditch. He did a great job on a Honda XBR500 seat I'd remodelled. £80 if I remember correctly.

Thanks guys,
@iansoady, have you got the name of the Redditch man? I go over that way from Shropshire quite often.

Hey that's not an XBR tank, what is it. Looks good though!

The upholsterer is MB Trim, I have a link to their website but the site itself seems to have vanished. They were still there a few weeks ago as I popped in to ask a question. There is a facebook page with phone number etc: https://www.facebook.com/Mbtrim/

The tank is from a CX500 as I hated the XBR tank. I was very happy with the way the bike turned out especially when I tracked down the reason it wouldn't run properly! Sadly my garage was broken into and the Honda and a Tri-Greeves I'd just finished building were stolen last year.

ps just seen you don't like FB (can't blame you) so the phone number is 01527 68141 and they're at 6 Royal Enfield Business Park, Redditch.

Thanks, will check'em out.
Thought it was a CX tank, didn't know it could be made to fit - good job there, looks much sleeker than the lumpy XBR item.
Sorry to hear about the theft. A Tri-Greeves has always appealed to me too, so I know how you must be gutted!

Yes, the tank was fairly easy to fit just by moving the forward mountings slightly. The bike sounded great with the Goldie style silencer - not too loud but a nice rich deep sound. On the few occasions I had the chance to ride it.....
