A65 Clutch Cable and abutment

Hopefully an easy question - I've got a 1969 A65 with some clutch cable issues. Should both metal ends of the cable fit (see photo) inside the abutment piece? (see other photo). I'm putting it all back together and the clutch actuating arm was fouling the timeing side cover....

Help appreciated, the manuals I have dont really help...

Found out l I am missing part 37 part 62-3263 Adaptor, Clutch Cable. will fit and revert and retry....
