I have some old style finned rocker box inspection covers but cannot tighten the original shouldered outer nuts because of the fins. Basically I can't get a spanner or a socket in. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards Rich.

Hi Rich

I have the same problem I have even tried grinding some alloy away but would have to take off to much to be able to get a spanner on...... mine at the Eddie Dow style that has the Breather in the Ex one...... bit of a pain really ha.

Hi,

I believe that the nuts are available in two lengths.

The later A10s used a reduced hex nut, not a sleeve nut, much easier to tighten with the Eddie Dow finned covers and helps avoid overtightening and distorting the covers.

The first photo is a late Super Rocket engine photo from the BSAOC photo archive, showing the reduced hex nuts.

Second is from an early Eddie Dow catalogue showing his finned rocker covers fitted and reduced hex nuts.

Yp that`s the one I got on the front of mine but with the RGS Nuts and you can see where the breather will go in the centre

Thanks for help guys. I have duly ordered some reduced hex nuts.
