Greetings.

A couple of times I heard people say that you shouldn't use valve guide inserts with non enclosed valves e.g. Sloper etc. I would like to know the basis for this assertion.

Reason is that today I brought this up with an engineer and he was quite categoric that fitting K-Line inserts is perfectly OK as they are lubricant retentive. He also would like to know the origin of this point/fact. He is talking 34 years of experience in this field without any problems or comebacks.

So if anyone has it in black and white, please share and enlighten me.

Gidday Mike, not sure about our Slopers, but I was advised by POC experts against using them in my Panther - they are renowned for seizing the exhaust valve unless the clearances are what most engineers would regard as worn out ! Cherts, Bevan.
