1971 A65

I own a 1971 A65 Lightning,  but when looked up in DVLA  it comes back as a Firebird.  Is there a way to tell what it started life as?

I would suggest you start by applying for a dating certificate for your BSA from the clubs Dating Officer. This will tell you whether your A65 left the  factory as a Lightning or a Firebird together with the despatch date and which dealer the bike went to.
