Crankcase Oil Pipe Union

I have a Starfire and am hoping to fit a remote oil filter  behind the gear box. I have a bracket part made up but I need to remove the crankcase oil pipe union part No 40-1035 have removed the oil pipes and  the nut that holds it in place but cannot remove the union how do you get it off. If it had a bolt holding it in place instead of a stud I think it would come off Ok. Have checked the parts list and a stud is correct it looks as though you have to lift the engine up to remove it which rather a lot of work.

Yep, correct, you have to raise the engine.
