Hello , as long as I have owned My 1955/56 "Golden Flash"(since 1973) , I have never been certain of the original cable routing (throttle , choke , etc ?
I have always run the wiring harness throgh the swaging on the timing side of the swinging arm frame and suspect the throttle and choke cables would originally have been routed through the swaging on the primary drive side of the frame ?
Can Any knowledgeable member comment please ?
I have just routed Mine as above for the first time and havent tried it on the road yet but there doesnt appear to be any tugging on the cables at full lock either way ?
Also how would the front brake cable have been routed (Ariel hub) ?
I dont like the current run as it hangs in the wind and chafes the front mudguard so will make a bracket later to hold it away .

Thank You in advance,
Steve..

I had problems running the throttle cable along the frame, the first time I did it, when I went on a full right lock it revved like mad, so I did away with that and let it hang free, now okay. the brake cable I run mine down behind the front fork, with a cushioned eye clamp, so that it can move up and down if it needs to.

Hi,

Even though there may not appear to be any tugging with the cables through the swaging the curves may become a bit tight even when not at full lock.  The result may be too much friction in the cable.
I prefer to keep the cables as free as possible with large radius curves.

Many Thanks for the advice .

Stationary the cables feel free but I am aware they may tighten up on the road so I will be very careful when I try the bike out .
