I guess this may well be an old chestnut, but, I've started getting the engine and gearbox assembly of my B25 Starfire back together.

I'm trying to find some new 40-3233 Clutch plates that meet spec.
Who knew how hard it would be.

I've emailed in excess of a dozen suppliers about the thickness of the plates they offer and 3 have come back with 0.137" and one with 4mm.
All outside spec.
Other havn't replied, some I await with dwindling hope.

Does anyone have any great sources or ideas?

Thanks as always

Well, I can report that the supply of clutch plates that fail to meet the BSA standard is wide spread and ongoing.

I've be in contact with 13 suppliers, direct and via eBay, regarding 14 possible options.

I received relies from 10 of the 13.

Performance Eng'g are out of stock having delivery issues with supplies from Surflex and refuse to buy any other make of plate..

All these are suppled as "New"

Of those that replied to my request for details of the dimension across the friction material on the 40-3233 clutch plate, ALL of them are below the 0.167" (4.2mm) recommended by BSA and most below the minimum 0.0137" for this dimension

These were
Empire Spares plates are 0.118" (3.0mm)
Fast Eddie Motorcycle Spares plates are 0.135" (3.43mm)

British Bike Doctor
SJ Eng'g
Classic Bike Shop
Feked
Draganfly
The plates from these suppliers are 0.138" (3.5mm) across the wear pads

Fair Deals plates are 0.152" (3.85mm) across the wear pads
These are 0.015" down on the 0.167" dimension, but 0.015" over the minimum dimension, so these are the ones I'm (reluctantly) going to fit.

Hey ho, lets hope they work
