Hi
Might seem like a silly question but I do need an answer - please.
Engine rebuilt and are putting in the oils now, OK with the gearbox but want to know that when the oils are in the engine oil tank and primary cover how do I check the levels to maintain the correct amount of oil in each ? after the bike has been used.
Thanks,

rhyatt

On the primary cover the you will have 2 screws.
1 about 7 o'clock and another at 630
The 7 is the level and 630 the drain.
I use atf in the primary.
Engine, only check the level after it has been running and pumped everything back to the tank(dry sump)

Hi
Many thanks for the info.
So with the engine oil tank, when I first top up look at the level through the top cap , remember and keep this level at all times if it drops ?
Thanks,

rhyatt

Basically , yes.
From memory the capacity is 4 pints .
Wherever that comes up to, keep it there as a measurement point.
The oil sometimes dribbles into the sump when standing for a while, so when you're running it, have a peek inside the oil tank filler cap to check it's returning . It will start as a solid flow and eventually will change to an intermittent flow , this indicates the oil in the sump is pretty much all back to the tank.
