I'm replacing the foam and cover and having never done a hump seat I have a question. Pre-fitting the cover I see its difficult to get the vinyl to conform to the hump area. Is it correct to glue the vinyl to the foam in that area or do you just stretch the sides a lot to get it to follow the shape of the foam? Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Gary

I've recovered a few seats in my time but usually tend to let the experts do it RK Leightons. In the case of a humped seat, I would have thought the most important thing is to start with a correctly shaped piece of foam - if both the foam and cover are correctly shaped, it should be relatively straightforward to stretch the cover to provide a tight fit over the foam.

In this case, you haven't said where the foam and cover have come from? If you start by fitting the foam inside the cover, you should be able to tell whether the fit is good enough. When Leightons make up a new piece of foam, they refine it's shape to fit the cover correctly. I believe they then glue the foam to the seat pan before stretching the cover over but they don't glue the cover to the seat.

If you glue the cover to the foam there is no movement and the cover will break up the foam.

Sorry I mistyped and wrote 'they don't glue the cover to the seat' rather than 'they don't glue the cover to the foam'

Thanks for all the suggestions. I purchased the cover and foam from Walridge supply in Canada. Both the cover and foam they said came from the UK. I don't recall the brand name on the bag the cover was in. The foam had no label and looks like it is made from a mold. The cover does seem to fit snugly over the foam though. Thanks again. Gary
