Have been asked by a friend to replace the alternator on an A10 he has aquired. On getting the bike I found the stator had already been removed by someone. Having removed the outer primary case the only way a cable can get out of the chaincase seems to be a small threaded hole in the top of the outer case close to the alternator. Can anyone tell me if this is so.
Many thanks

Having looked at a few A10 alternator chaincase covers, there doesn't seem to be an obvious exit hole in it for the stator cable. It's possible it exits through the back of the chaincase to the right of the alternator.

Thanks for reply Spaceman.
I was expecting to see an exit for the cable as you say in that position similar to my T90. Beginning to look like the rear case is off a standard A10. The question is, was the exit cast in as a special or fabricated in later from a standard case. Photos of an alternator A10 case are like hens teeth, getting one would be even worse

The threaded hole on top of the case could have been for a breather, who knows

This may be a picture of the A10 alternator chaincase with a hole in the rear cover possibly for the alternator cable. On a lot of BSA bikes, the exit hole simply uses a rubber grommet and I would have thought in this case that was all that required provided the cable was clamped in some way as it emerged out of the back. In this way, the cable will be well clear of any moving parts within the chaincase.

I think you are right. The outer case has the cut out to mount the stator

The A10 alternator chaincase parts are 42-7528 (inner) and 42-7529 (outer) for reference. Alternator cable grommet 42-7539 is listed for pre-unit models.

Information absolutely spot on Spaceman.Grommet is even on Draganfly and Ebay. Many thanks for your help
