61 S/Rocket, stood for 11 years, dynamo showing no charge on ammeter. Have used multimeter across batt. terminals with engine running but voltage output not rising when revved. Seem to remember from 45+years ago that a wire from battery pos (if neg is earth) connected to the dynamo field wire and flashed to earth sometimes did the trick,(polarizing?) particularly if dynamo rebuilt or laid up for a long period. Can anyone advise on correct procedure. Converted to 12v with electronic rectifier/regulator. Thanks, Greg

Julian, many thanks for the info. I do remember coming across this electrical guru some time back as i also have a Matchbox, but due to the passage of time had forgotten about it. Well worth reading up about the Prof's simple and explanatory approach to dealing with electrical gremlins. Will post a thread later to inform those interested on the result.
