Hi,

Can anybody suggest an effective way of thoroughly cleaning out the above tank?  I have used various solvents and although these have washed out the oil there still seems to be a thin hard layer of scale coating the whole inside of the tank.  Any suggestions on how to remove this would be appreciated - I'm trying to avoid mechanical means if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I'll have a look inside my A10 later to see if I can see anything similar. Is the scale actually flaking off and, if so, what do the flakes look like? If it's not flaking then it may not be doing any harm?

Im just wondering if someone has filled up with a mineral oil like Castrol R. this would leave a lacquer  and can be a pain to get off of cases.

I had a look at my A10 oil tank and, as expected, it is just bare metal. I just wonder in this case whether someone has sealed the inside of the oil tank because it was a bit rusty? As said, assuming it is not flaking or peeling off or sticky in appearance, there might not be a compelling reason to try and remove it?
