This B40 is causing no end of problems..., now has new clutch centre and basket with rollers and lines up with front engine sprocket , so, all good now sorted.
torqued the clutch up, built up all good.
put the rotor on and torqued up, fitted the coils , done, sorted.!!!!#
not likely, the lock washer turns on the armature nut despite nut being done up to 60lbft.
cant remember taking or fitting any other spacers so had a look on the WWW for nut and tab washer. the tab washer 29-2054  one fitted is thicker than the new pattern replacement, the nut 29-2053 is shouldered as Drags have but looking at the parts books they seem normal nuts and Fekd sell them as non shouldered.
I think the nut is bottoming out, is there a spacer missing? is the shouldered nut really needed?
fitting the newer pattern washer would increase the problem.

just to wrap  this up
the nut used the old style tab washer , bigger hole to accomodate the shoulder on the nut.
the new smaller holed washer either needs a new non shouldered nut or the original one reversed.
presumably cheaper to produce the single tab washer to do a couple of positions and a non shouldered nut rather than hve two washers and a more expensive shouldered nut!!

confusing as two suppliers sell the options they hold so you cant buy one bit from one and the other bit from the other..

the final update..
Da*n B40 runs , leaks a drop of oil or two now has a V5c and just ordered a number plate... going to be  a 3 row one unfortunately.
now this means,,, I have to get insurance, and luckilly as Historic, apply for free road tax...
oh woe is me, will now have to find the time to get out and ride it.  Summer is coming....

many thanks to the Owners club and Steve Foden for his dating certificate ;)
