I am new to the BSA Owners Club and this forum. I live in Virginia USA and have 3 A10's I have restored over many years. The original carb for my 1956 Road Rocket is an AMAL 10TT9. I have the original and have restored it as best as I know how. When on the bike it drips from a tiny hole under the idle air screw. All jets, needle, gaskets etc. are new from AMAL. The float level is not adjustable. Any suggestions? Also does anyone know how to make these idle, since it does not have an idle stop screw.

I remember reading on the internet about the drip problem but cannot remember where ? perhaps a search may prove fruitful .The 10tt9 Amal is a racing carburetor and s such has no provision for tick over perhaps you could adjust it out with the throttle cable . Good luck .

As far as I can see, the remote float bowl should be vertical with the carb on the bike which requires the correct angled mounting flange for it otherwise the float level could be wrong. I also read that petrol should weep out of the hole when the float tickler is pressed which would show the float level if correct. So if the bowl is angled correctly and petrol weeps out of the hole without touching the tickler then this might imply the float level is too high (for whatever reason).

Is it possible to fit a washer under the float needle and on top of the float to lower the height of the petrol in the chamber .

Thank you for your input. The carb has a 15 degree float chamber which is correct for the Road Rocket. When the bike is on the center stand, the float is vertical. I'm not sure about fitting a washer under the needle.
