Hi guys
This a65 1967 has a newer clutch cover with ramp and I cannot stop the clicking noise I've fitted a Srm pressure plate kit and cut the pushrod
I've adjusted the pressure plate first and the thecable but still makes that noise
Any suggestions
Mark

Hi Spike,

This was covered in a previous post and the upshot was that if the lever has a pivot distance of more than the 7/8" that BSA used then the mechanism is moved a bit too far and the click is the balls going back in to place.  What levers do you have fitted?  The 7/8" pivot distance as opposed to 1 1/16" will also give more leverage.
Editor Chris will probably confirm this.

Hi Dave
Not sure just bought new ones, and what do you mean with pivot distance,

Hi,

Measure from the centre of the bolt that the lever pivots on and the centre of the hole that the cable nipple  goes in.

Hi dave
Looks to be 7/8 so is that what it's supposed to be and if so can you think of anything else that might give a problem

Hi,

I would say the 7/8" is correct.  Interestingly, I have two A65s with the later clutch mechanism.  One has never had this clicking whereas the other did when first reassembled even with 7/8" centre levers but it only did it for a short time.  It could have been that one of the balls was not rolling properly even though  applied with plenty of grease on assembly.
I suppose that if the balls have bedded in to the ramps and are then disturbed they may have to settle down again.  Has it been doing this since fitting the SRM plate and new levers or has it alway ben doing it?

I haven't ridden it when I bought it , just put the Srm plate when rebuilding it , funny enough I've got two tr5t and one does it and the other one doesn't and I've rebuilt both
But thanks dave
