Hi, is 8mm the correct size rubber tubing for my 1965 A65 Lightning lubrication system (oil tank pipes and I/O manifold) please?
Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Dave I was told on here and used 3/8 feed 5/16 return 3/16 rockers O rings 68-0588 for the three branch union I believe you mentioned 3 branch ,by the  way the back tyre  you sold me is great Roy  ;D

P S get the right size hose clips

Thanks for that Roy.

The union is two branch, and I've got a spin off filter, which has pretty large I/O ports...

I'm gonna remove all the rubber pipework, measure all the pipe fittings so I've got exactly the right rubber pipes... But I'm also going to remove the manifold, fit new 'O' rings and a fibre washer under the manifold securing bolt......

Let's see it leak after that.....

Hi Dave you probably know the  two branch O rings are different as for the oil leek I wish there where a spray on sealant that works out there, Roy

Hi,

SRM list 3/8" bore rubber oil pipe with braided cover for the feed pipe.  I assume that it will be 3/8" and not 8mm which is only 5/16". They will also probably have the other sizes as well as the proper clips, 'O' rings for the oil manifold etc.  If in doubt give them a call and get exactly what you need.

Yes Roy. I've ordered the 68-0588, which is shown in the spares manual....

Yes Dave, that'll be for the spin off filter I/O ports. (10mm)
I measured the oil manifold pipes and get them to 5/16ths (8mm)

I've got some 10mm to 8mm brass reducers that I will use for the return pipes, and I've ordered some 8mm pipe. (I also ordered some 6.3mm rubber pipe to see if that might fit on the oil tank/ manifold pipes better...)

(I might also try bypassing the filter in order to simplify locating the leaks)

I had a bit of a look at the manifold area last night (don't tell my surgeon...) and the leak sort of looks like it might be coming from the timing case joint.....

I'll clean up the whole area once I get all the pipes off, and take it from there.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, it all helps.

Hi Dave,

I thought you were using a 3 branch so yes 8mm OD for both feed and return on the manifold.

Dave.

Ah, that's very reassuring mate.

Best regards,
Dave
