C15 kick start not working

Hello
I've just finished reassembling the engine and gearbox on my C15 but when dry testing I noticed that while I am able to change through the gears, the kickstart does not the engine over. Rather it pushes down and springs back without actually doing anything.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong or do I need to remove the gearbox and start again?

im guessing the clutch isn't installed?

Hi Mark,

It sounds like the ratchet is not engaging or has been left out.  What year is it?

It's a 1965. The clutch is installed but the engine is still on the bench so I haven't tested it yet and it may require some adjustment.
