My biking jeans (JTS) have a very thick seam on the inside of the crotch area, and I'm wondering whether that might be the cause of some discomfort I've been experiencing when riding. As they also happen to be too big around the waist (esp since I began my miserable low-saturated fat diet) I'm thinking about replacing them with something that doesn't have such a pronounced seam on the inside. Any recommendations please? (by the way I'm very tall, and have a 34" inside leg so would need 36" inside leg for biking.)

I'm on my second pair of Hood Jeans. The first pair were subjected to an unplanned test of their performance and passed! I'm 6'4" with a 34" inside leg. No comfort issues for me. I got the longest I could and they are great when sat on the bike. I have the K7 jeans with knee and hip armour although you can have them without.

Thanks John FD. So you use 34" leg just as you would for non-biking jeans?  Do they not ride up your leg and leave a gap between boot and jeans?   Phil

my pair of Shoshoni jeans are hanging in the wardrobe, used them for 4 or 5 years then they have been retired for 20 odd years, they were cut with extra length in the leg sufficient to allow  coverage between short boot and bottom of leg.
not made any more but they are still stiff as a board, came with hip protectors.
others I know  use Draggin Jeans https://dragginjeans.net/

I bought some Rokker revolution jeans a few months ago.
Having experienced very hot and heavy weight of usual riding gear and leather during the warmer months I decided on these.

They are singled layer Kevlar type fabric with a gore tex type liner fused inside. So they feel lighter than jeans lined with another layer. Also they are waterproof so getting caught out in one of those heavy summer showers is not a problem and no need to worry about carrying waterproofs on a day ride out somewhere. They have hip and knee Knox protectors which can be removed if you want.
Inevitable they are a bit less flexible in the fabric than your usual thinner well worn denim jeans but they are easy to wear and walk about in when off the bike. Expensive at £350 ( but they do 32, 34 and 36 inch leg) a very high tech well made garment though.

Hi Phil,
I use roadskins, they come in different weights, sizes and are reasonably priced. I am a 32" leg and use a 32" leg with no issues:

Researching various makes online, I was very impressed by Rokkertech. Until I saw the price: £350. Not sure I can justify that.  Phil

I ordered them as long as I could get. I think they worked out at a little over 36" inside leg. They're a bit long off the bike but not too bad. I bought mine by phoning rather than ordering on line. They were very helpful.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, which I've further explored online. I think I might go for the Hoods, as they do a 36" leg, and they are not too expensive.  Rokka were very tempting but very expensive.
John FD, Regarding WAIST size, would you say Hoods were  a) true to size, b) a bit too loose, or c) a bit too tight? Thanks for your help  Phil

I find my Hood jeans very comfortable but the fit was a bit on the loose side.

Steve.

Thanks Steve, and everyone. I've just ordered a pair of Hoods. Very helpful on the phone. Of course the proof of the pudding...
