For very small quantities of metal, I used to use Mallard Metals. Are they no longer operating? Any other suppliers recommended?   Phil

I only need a very short length of alli tube, with turned ends (ie at right angles rather than rough-sawn) for tapping on my new engine sprocket.  Any idea where? I'm prepared to buy a bit more than I need, within reason, as long as the short piece can be parted off on a lathe.  Phil

I use blenco-metals via ebay, Phil. He has a good choice of whitworth sizes which suits me. I can normally get stuff direct from him at Rufforth Autojumble though during the current mess Ive used mail order. The only disadvantage is that his prices include postage and theres no discount on multiple items. As a result its been only stuff Ive really needed that Ive ordered recently.

Living in an all metric country, I have problems with obtaining small quantities of imperial materials.
When ordering some tools from Chronos, I also bought some from them. They also has metric.

I've used these people before    https://www.metals4u.co.uk        As always when buying small quantities it works out expensive with P&P  - but maybe no more than the petrol we spend driving around trying to find stuff.

Thanks Pete, that looks pretty good.  Phil
