hi experts, i have a alloy rim qd hub a65 rear wheel but no threads for a speedo drive. i vaguely remember a one piece pressed steel cover that banged into a slot. also had speedo drive tangs and 3 grub screws. all the cover types seem to be listed as 68 6142s which is confusing.
anyone know what i m talking about and more importantly any for sale anywhere?

i ve revisited a65s as i bought a 72 engine with a small hole in the chaincase. might be warranty as although some parts were nicked but the crank and other parts like brand new. opened the sludge trap today. almost empty. . after a weld repair its going back together un touched.

Hi Eddie,

I believe the '65 had the speedo driven from the gearbox.
Both my later A65s have the screw in speedo drive sleeve which also serves as the bearing retainer.
Interestingly both of my parts books do not show this as a separate part so must come with the cover as per image.

hi dave. i remember an early version had 3 grub screws, the next rhs threads which came undone and last the lhs which didnt. all 3 seem to have the same part number. i need the early version with 3 grub screws or is hammered in place.
