Amal carb air screw

Hi I am having a problem setting up my new Amal carb on my B40 , which way do I turn the air screw to make  the mixture richer , in or out

many thanks , just could not find that simple bit of info

hopefully it will stop popping in the exhaust , start better and pull a bit better
