Hello all, Another very basic question from me.  I'm about to fit an 88SA ignition switch on my B40. The socket which I've bought to fit on the switch has seven short (about three inch) wires coming from it, with bullet connectors on the ends. Obviously I will connect my loom wires to those short wires using bullets and snap connectors. But I only have five wires to connect, so there will be two spare short wires coming from the socket. They will be redundant ( obviously the socket is made to suit various different bikes.) What is the best thing to do with those two redundant wires? Someone at Dragonfly advised me just to stick them into snap connectors. Would you agree, or suggest some other safe way of dealing with them?  Phil

That was my first thought, rightly or wrongly. Do you know if they become/are live?

Any thoughts on this please anyone?  Phil

Did you check if they are or become live? If they're "for other models" that may be the case. Why are you concerned about just inserting them into blank females?

I haven't checked if they become live. The loom is still unconnected and battery off. I guess I'm just assuming they could be live, and so looking to leave them safe. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing and sticking them in the bullet connector tubes would be fine. Would you say so? I guess as safe as all the other bullet-ended wires.  Phil

IMO, terminating in a blank sleeve has got to be better than burying in insulating tape. I believe I've even seen wiring looms finished that way when accessories aren't fitted or there for future fitting.
