How do you define left or right, sat on the bike or stood at front looking at the bike.  :-\ Roy

As if you were sat on the bike. Think of it like left and right indicator. Regardless of where your stood, the left indicator is always on the "near side" and the right is always on the "off side"

Hi, Bess with help we put my A65 engine in in about 1 minute and a half couple of tight spots then slotted in, but what a nightmare with the chain started threading the chain over sprocket waiting with a hooked wire for the loose end coming round then it jammed don't know if the link had gone under itself or a link was stood proud after about an hour back and forward nothing was happening even thought about taking clutch out to get at the sprocket after afew more goes it was free what a relief, hope yours goes well. Hope you don't need to do it again in a hurry but if you do may I suggest that you feed a piece of strong string around the sprocket before you put engine in the frame. Just ensure that the string is on the gearbox side of the sprocket.

Hi,

I fit the clutch etc. after putting the bottom end in the frame and try to remember to thread the chain over the sprocket before fitting the plate that goes behind the clutch and if fitting a new chain on its own, use the connecting link to attach the new chain to the old one and pull it around in to place.  Detach old chain and connect up new one and adjust. Job done.
