I have been taking advantage of our forced isolation to investigate way the rear wheel and mudguard of my 1964 C15T is always covered in Oil, I know this is from the primary chaincase as this seems to empty out after a few hundred miles of running.
The breather at the rear is attached by by one of the bolts and the housing of this is cut away inside the case so that it collects oil running down the inside of the case to feed out onto the rear chain. Is this just a Trails mod or standard because it seems rather too effective - My first bike was a C15 road bike and I never had this problem.
I have also removed the clutch to replace the seal just in case and I notice that the gearbox mainshaft has about 25 thou end play, is this normal - the box works ok, gear changes are fine etc

Any feedback would be appreciated.

the chain oiler was a thought for people who didnt do a lot of maintainance, nowadays many owners plug up the outlet , firstly due to lower mileage, secondly the products that are available today such as non fling chain oil means not needed.
keep an eye on the end float, too much can start to wear other parts.

I tilted the end slightly uphill. That should slow it down a bit!

I had one of these chain oilers on my B40 and it worked very.  Keeping the chain just about oiled but with no 'leak' all over the bike.  The outlet of the oiler had been soldered up with only a pin hole through to let oil out.  I do not know if this was as a they came from the factory but a useful mod if not.  A65s also had this arrangement and possibly R3s.
