AND SOME MORE..

Its a '67 reimported, registered in my name..mot ( exempt anyway) runs well but i am having trouble starting it...on the odd occasion i have got it right...it goes first kick. The problem is me, not the bike.
Looking for around £3.5k.

I have managed to start this a few times....fitting heavier shoes helped. It bumps very easily and I am beginning to think that it could be a keeper.

had this discussion recently at work or on another form. technique is the main thing but big thumpers need the correct footware.
I advocate steel toecap boots at the bare minimum for Brit singles over 350 and mx boots for 500's and Japanese motocrossers.
for tamer bikes I still use steel toecap shoes, mainly because if they kick back, the PPE workwear noormally has steel plates in the arch of the foot. believe me kicking a KX500 1988 in slippers is a no no. and to do it again10 mins later meant no walking for a few days.
my eldest had a KTM 450 the person who bought it off him ended up selling for parts as he couldnt master the starting procedure.

it will grow on you.

Been there, done that, got the bruises!

Laziness sometimes meant I tried to kick over a big single with inaproppriate shoes and suffered the consequence.

However, I would also agree that there is a knack or technique for kicking a big single ( or twin) over. Once discovered and mastered, starting becomes relatively easy!
