BSA Lightning 650 engine and frame numbers.

Can anyone tell me if the frame number and engine number should match exactly? My engine number and frame match except for  "- Y" on the engine.

I would say, if it has the same nos then take it that it is the original pairing. If you have any doubts obtain a dating certificate from the Dating Officer. You will also know who the supplying dealer was as well.
