Having removed the cover plate from behind my clutch, I notice its gasket is stuck on to the plate very firmly. I don't want to go scraping at it with a knife, risking damaging the surface, if there is a better way. Any tips please?

If it's not damaged, smear it with gasket goo and re-use.

How's the diagnosis of the leak problem coming along - any obvious problem with the clutch seal?

If I wanted to get it off, and replace with a new gasket with just a smear of grease, how would I remove it without damaging the face? What's best to use?  Phil.

Why not get in aqua blasted ? just a thought !!

I would personally use a Standley blade to get underneath it and carefully ease as much of it away from the cover as possible. I'd then use a rotary wire brush to remove any remaining gasket.

+1 for using a new Stanley knife type blade. Keep the blade virtually flat against the casing and you wont risk digging the blade into anything. Always worked well for me!
