Gold Star rev counter.

  Smiths rev counter went dodgy on a run this afternoon. Any recomendations for repair ?  Problem is it shoots over to over 8k revs on tick-over and slowly drops back to 2k revs. Stays there for a mile or two, works OK for 1/2 mile then trotts off to +8k....  Bit beyond my abilities to furtle with it....      Griff
