DOes anyone know how to remove a Lucas Ammeter?  I was thinking of fitting a digital ammeter, but I can't see, for the life of me, how to detach the existing meter.  It has a transparent, plastic case, and no sign of a screw or nut.

If anyone can recommend a digital meter that will fit in the hole, then so much the better.

Failing that an analogue meter with a 3A scale rather than an 8A scale would be good.

Does it not have some tags on the back of the bezel that are folded over against the headlamp shell to retain it?

Or even the usual U bracket secured by two BA nuts?
What use would a 3A ammeter be?

The original Lucas ammeter were held in the headlamp with 4 fold over tabs like the photo. After being bent and unbent a few times they usually break off.

Maybe that is what has happened.

Reading the difference between 2A and 2,5A on an 8 Amp scale isn't easy.

Sadly I am not finding any 1 3/4" digital ammeters which would fit in the hole.

Yes they have tabs.

They were only a guide

I use an led voltage monitor in the same hole , blanked off , changed colour with voltage

Headlamp, tail lamp and brake lamp would see the needle try and deflect well passed the 3A limit, if a 3-0-3 ammeter were available.
If the tabs have broken off the ammeter should simply push through, unless someone's glued it in with silicone or similar.
