Can anyone recommend a different make of tyre for the new Gold Star that lasts longer than the standard Pirelli Phantoms that were fitted by the factory?
Im on my second set of front and rear, changed at approx 5500 miles and the rear is showing signs of flattening on the crown resulting in the wobbly rear end. Ive done approx 4000 miles since changing.
Do Pirelli's have a reputation for rapid wear?

On my modern bikes I usually use Bridgestone battlax or similar.
I think they have dual compound , harder in the centre for mileage and softer edges for corners

I changed the original Pirellis, not because of quick wear,  but because they were rubbish.  I rode through damp conditions and you could feel them slip on the white lines.  I changed for Michelin tyres, which I have found to be superb on my Triumph Trophy 1215cc over many 1,000s of miles in all conditions.  Also,  because they were OEM tyres rather than aftermarket there was less tread to start with. I don't trust any OEM tyre that comes with a new bike.

I fitted a Michelin Road 6 on the rear and a Michelin Classic on the front.   The handling and road holding has been transformed. Plus, the Road 6 just looks the part, a bit like the hobnobs of biscuits  >:(  I sold the Pirellis.....

Many thanks chaps!
I'll check out the prices of both makes.
Novo, I have to admit when you said a 'Dunlop Classic' I was expecting to see a Dunlop Ribbed on the front. My, how times have changed.

First of all, my apologies.  I meant Michelin,  not Dunlop (now corrected) !
I use Michelin Road 6 GT (GT are the heavy duty tyres) on my Triumph Trophy 1215cc and they are superb, if expensive.  However, there is no cost cutting for me when it comes to issues of safety.
