The side panels on my A65 make access to the Amal Monobloc 389 carb tickler very difficult with my arthritis ridden fingers. I saw a ebay listing for part 622/72 concentric tickler extension. Will it fit my carb or does anyone know of part to look for. Many thanks for your advice  ;)

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but these people will:
www.amalcarb.co.uk they're very helpful down the phone.

I doubt if a concentric tickler extension will fit a monobloc carb but they probably do the correct one.

This one is designed for a Monobloc although it doesn't have a nice knob on the end which I'm sure could be easily added:

Bril Thanks for posting that. I shall get one and give it a try. Firstly though I might just try extending the existing one. I'll let you know what happens.

If your A65 is an early one with bulbous side panels then the carb was fitted with  an extension lever which sticks out in front of the left panel to give you access.  The photo is from the owners manual from 1962 and shows the pressed metal parts used.

Here are 2 photos of the set up on my early A65. I had to make my own version of the tickler as when I restored my A65 I could not find a supplier for the parts this may have changed now. It is not an ideal situation as when tickling the carb prior to start up you cannot see when the carb is flooding due to the design of the panels, I tend to hold the lever down for about 8 seconds then try to start it, most times it does but if after a few kicks if it does not then I hold the lever down for an extra 3 seconds and then it always starts.

Many thanks for excellent replies I did not think they would make the tickler that inaccessible! ;)

Finally decided to make an extension to my "tickler". No!!! I mean the one on my carbl

It took longer to find a piece of metal the right size than to do the job. Finally found that a 4" nail is the same diameter plus about .02mm.

It wont win a lot of prizes for pretty but 100% for working.

Hope my pics are OK
