I have a 54 b33 swingarm , it has the 7" , ½ width brake hub ,
Can someone let me know which was the correct hub , wasn't sure if the 8",  ½ width was more correct ?
Cheers.

I'm pretty sure that by 1954 a B33 would have the 8" half width hub.

So if replacing the 7" with a 8 inch obviously different spokes but would the rim be the same,  also the forks I have the brake plate ankor is a pin that goes into the fork , I've come across a 8" hub and it looks like it has a brake stay going forward .
I appreciate any info . Thanks

There are two differences
The boss where the adjuster screws into  in the backplate fulcrum (vs threaded boss part of the backplate securing lug on the 7") and the brake plate stay that bolts to the right fork leg with two holes of the mudguard bracket. .
You can ignore the boss lug but you may find the threaded part of the lug gets in the way of the cable, you have choice of cutting that bit off or finding a decent Gold Star right fork leg. You would need to buy the stay (seem to be £10-15 s/h on eBay) and the longer bolts to fix to the middle mudguard bracket on the forks.
Probably need a new cable (but could shorten the existing outer to custom fit).

Thanks Neil,  so is my fork leg a B31 or just an older model leg , it's got the adjuster lug on the fork leg , I've got an extended brake arm ,and managed to get it sitting in a good spot and the cable going into hole pretty good , with my brass stranded linings and combined rear brake it's not too bad , it was scary before . There is a 8" hub for sale on the local website , and wondered if I should get it,  the inside face looks fairly good , I will look at a goldstar leg see if its worth doing . Thanks

B33 was fitted with an 8 inch hub from the onset. You can cut of the threaded lug or leave it. You will need to remove the spacer from the left hand fork leg. The 8 inch hub will need the spindle to go with it plus the brake anchor. Also a new brake cable all very easy to do, I have done this many times.

Thank you , I  will look at picking up a few parts .

Many years ago I swapped out the 7" half width for an 8" half width front on a 55 B31.  The 7" was terrible and the 8" with the ally brake plate was a huge improvement. I seem to recall that there was no cutting and everything, even the spindle was a straight fit.  I swapped the whole wheel, off and A10 I think and just used the brake stay and cable, the fork lug didn't get in the way.  If memory serves me it was the threaded spindle.
