At a guess it is a 1951 Gold Star engine with a 1950 sprung frame. However I am no expert.

Neither of those numbers seem to appear in the despatch books ... any way you can check?

I would agree with @Madpete, of course pictures of the bike and importantly close ups of the serials themselves to confirm if pukka or not.
Have the numbers been run by Ian Jackson?
Not sure if some competition machines escaped normaldespatch book. Sadly the competition documentation is no longer available.

I dont know Ian Jackson or how to contact him. I am just trying to help a lady who does not know what she has. I will ask for pictures of engine numbers. Thankyou.

An interesting combination... do you have a picture or two of the beast?

My ZB32 apparently escaped that despatch book too, according to the BSA machine dating service, but I didn't know the comp docs are no longer available. What happened to them, do you know?

I believe that they were in the possession of John Gardner and were lost in the wake of his untimely death.

Ian Jackson is the machine registrar for GoldStar owners club.
He has documentation for every official BSA Gold Star, when made, despatched, for a lot of bikes the spec sheet and dyno report too.

Interesting. Brian Pollitt was the person who issued the "dating certificate" on mine. Maybe Ian Jackson's info would be more useful then.

I checked with Ian and his records match what we (BSAOC) have ... numbers do not match any records.  Any chance of a picture of the stampings? PM me if you prefer.
