I thought I was getting near with my B40 build but every step seems to take ages! Latest issue is with fitting the carb.

How do I get the carb connected to the air filter? I've got the rubber tube but with the carb on there's no way it will compress into the gap.
There's also the issue that the carb intake and the air filter in the centre panel are offset!
So what's the recommended procedure for getting it all to fit?
Thanks

When I bought this rubber tube   I had to trim it to enable it to fit.
It needs a slight angle cut on 1 end to match the angle of the little stub pipe , plus some baseline.

The offset on my 1961 B40 between the carb and the air filter hole was just too much for the rubber connector to fit correctly. I tried trimming etc but gave up in the end and just left it open with no connector. I guess it's down to distortions within the frame / mounts over the years due to rebuilds etc or even initial build tolerances at the factory.

Thanks guys.

I've got a second centre panel which doesn't have the air filter fitted and which has had the hole enlarged (making it rather oval in the process). I'm thinking of bringing the hole back to being circular and then using a longer hose to pass through the hole with carb at one end and non standard air filter at the other hidden behind the side panels.

I would use a rigid tube but the Monobloc 376 fitted does not have a screw thread on the intake.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I believe that the later B40s, B40F, had a filter that had a threaded stub that passes though the centre panel and screwed on to the carb.
