Hi.
Having just discovered why my clutch needs continually adjusting (end of push rod splayed) I'm struggling to find a replacement online.

Can anyone please tell me the correct length that it should be?
(I fear I'll have to buy a "cut it down yourself" rod)

And / or an original part number?

My old one measures approximately 11 3/4" but that's not accurate because of the splaying.
I'm guessing someone has fitted a non-hardened rod previously?

Many thanks

Many thanks

Part number is 65-3940 can't help you with the length.

Thank you for that

If your gearbox and clutch are as the bike left the Factory, the pushrod length should be 11 7/8" (or 11.875 or 301.6mm). The best material for pushrods is silversteel rod, so cut it to the length required then slightly chamfer each end before hardening each end by heating to cherry red then dunking in water with the rod straight down (not angled)  and stirring around. Some people say you should then temper the ends afterwards, but I've never bothered and had no issues.

Fantastic, thank you.
Exactly what I needed to know.
Muchly appreciated

I've got two new spare pushrods but they 285 and 291mm

So one the same and one a little longer than you have now.

You can have one for the cost of postage in the UK.

Use the lengths quoted above, and re-shape your pushrod ends by filing/grinding. Cut the rod somewhere in the it's length and insert a 1/4" clutch roller, then heat ends and quench in water.
Grease and refit.
