I am rebuilding a 1962 C15S that sat in storage for over 25 years.  I disassembled the carb and found corrosion throughout.  I cleaned it out as well as possible and installed a rebuild kit but is not putting any gas through to the engine.  I turn on the gas, the float fills, I tickle, then crank and crank but the cylinder and plug are completely dry.  I really like the Russian-built Amal replacements with manual choke, but all seem to be for much bigger engines.  I would welcome any suggestions for a replacement carburetor for a 250cc.

When you tickle the carb , does fuel actually dribble out of the carb visibly ?
It's not unknown for the floats and their needles to stick closed

Hi,

If you do not resolve the issue and the carb is beyond repair then a replacement will be on the cards.
Amal Monoblocs are very expensive, a concentric can be used or even one of the cheap alternatives.
For my wife's '62 C15 we opted for a Mikuni from Motocarbs.  Jetted for C15/T20 is works out of the box.
Not the cheapest option but probably the a good option for quality and longevity.

From memory, the C15 Amal was 7/8 inch diameter.  So this would need the 22mm or 24mm Mikuni.
If you go to 26mm, then the inlet port will need grinding out for gas-flow,

If you can't clean the carb treat it to new Amal Premier. Fit and forget as it comes correctly jetted.
