BSA 500 maybe S24 S26 , H25 ?

Hi folks,
My father had an old BSA square tank model, and from a picture I have, I can't quite decide which model it was.Seen a few on the internet suggesting various models.
The picture I have does show the reg number, but sadly it's not on the DVLA database.
Is there any way of checking historic records to see if the reg number is listed?
I am just trying to confirm the exact model.

Reg number was FR4012

A picture would help, but to take this further you could try contacting the Lancashire Record Office, Bow Lane, Preston, PR1 2RE. (01772 533039) as they hold some but not all records for Blackpool (FR prefix) registered vehicles. HTH
