Hi,

The 17" rim size on the C15 limits tyre choice a bit so what are people using these days?

On my A10 i'm using Avon RoadriderII and they are available in 17" size, though the A10 has 19" rims front and rear.
Can't fault them on my A10.

Hi,

Thank for the reply.
I use the Avons on three twins and they are good.  The 17" sizes are unfortunately too wide for the C15.
3.25 width is fitted to both ends which I recon are equivalent to a 90/90 in modern sizes.
Not a lot smaller, but does anyone use a 3.00 tyre on the front of a C15?

Dave,

These are as we've used and as a Dunlop K70 pattern tyre with modern compound are proving up to the job.

Hi Paul,

I have looked at these and they do look the part. How do they perform in the wet?
I have found a Metzeler ME22 but in a 17" rim there seems to only be a 3.00 size available.  It is to be used on the front so the slightly smaller size should not be a problem.

Dave,

Perfectly acceptable I'd say. As we know, a C15 isn't a race machine!

Go for it (them).

Are your rims marked with their width..?   You could have a WM2 front and a WM3 rear.   So 275 or 300 front, and 300 or 325 rear..  depending upon rider weight.
You will also need to adjust the pressures to suit the conditions.

Hi,

Both rims are WM2 and a 3.25 tyre is specified for both ends. I have ordered the 3.00 for front fitment and will seek a 3.25 for the rear when it is needed.
The rims are bit tatty so I get the wheels I will consider having them rebuilt with 18" instead of 17" as there is greater choice tyres and it will only raise the bike by about half an inch.
