I have fitted new brake shoes to my A50 single-sided front brake. These came with sintered linings.  So far, they seem close to useless.  Does anyone know if they will improve as the mileage increases? Or should I scrap them and get shoes with non-sintered linings?

Did you centralise the backplate when the wheel was put back into the bike.
Linings take a while to bed in anyway, put some miles on it and monitor any improvement.
Or failing that , if the linings/shoes are of dubious parentage , send the shoes for relying with "soft road" linings

my bikes were about £6 per shoe plus a bit of post

Thanks for great responses. Great info - I shall give autoandindustrial a call.  (Yes - I had remembered to centralise them - but only after the first test ride!)

I've always had great reults from Villiers Services who use a woven type material. I think sintered material is for servo / hydraulic brakes with a much higher application force,
