Speedo illumination bulb

Hi,
     I have a Smiths 1680 speedo on my C15 which I think is standard. There is no provision as far as I can see for a light bulb - is this correct?

Not sure but I believe that on some models with a slit in the side covered, obviously, with a thin piece of clear material and the bulb holder was attached to the side, so that the light shone through, they were never much good though, as I have never seen one that illuminates the speedometer correctly.

I wouldn't ride an old bike in the dark, cause I am too old. LOL

you could always look at fitting an LED lamp. Tiny but very bright just attach it to back of headlight bulb holder or to bullet connector.
I fitted one to my WD B40, loads on eBay , make sure its correct voltage and forward facing focus, you can even get colored ones.
Very modern!
