Hi,

Just cleaning etc. an 8" TLS front brake and found a nice group of about 5 score marks running around the inner edge of the shoes and brake drum. No gritty bits in there and mostly quite clean but as these brakes are vented there is the probability that some bit can get in do a bit scoring and eventually find their way out.
I am considering either blocking the air inlet off completely or finding a finer gauze/mesh to go behind the chrome grille.
Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to improve things?

Dave.

Hi,

I have ordered some stainless steel mesh with 1mm holes.  The std grille has 2.5/3mm holes so the mesh will greatly reduce the chance if bits getting in there.  There will be some reduction to the cooling function but how often is this cooling actually needed in the real world?

Hi,

Mesh fitted so greatly reduced risk of anything getting in.
