I think most of you will know that I am restoring a D3 Bantam, my question this time is.
Does it matter which side the toolbox and the battery box are fitted, seen plenty of pictures and they are on different sides.
When the bike left the factory each one was surely on the same side?

On a D1 (125), it would depend on which type of generator the bike was fitted with, Lucas (nearside), Wipac (offside).
The batteries were also a different size due to there being less height available on the nearside.

If yours is a D3 (150) and fitted with battery electrics, the battery would have originally been fitted on the offside as they were all Wipac equipped.

Finding the correct toolbox to go with it is a bit more complicated as the many types all look similar but the brackets dictate which bike it was designed for (with or without battery, Lucas or Wipac and early or later design etc.).
