Big bore kit on ss80

Hi,
I have stripped my engine and need some advice please. The head had worn valve guides so has gone off to Len at the cylinder head shop. I am going to try out his nucleus valve guides so will let you know how that goes. Only downside is about a 12 week wait but that's what happens when you use a good guy.
Now to the barrel. Firstly, a fun has broken off at the bottom but I do have the broken piece. Secondly, the piston and bore are 0.040thou oversized and the bore is shiny but not ridged.
I have had very expensive quotes for welding the fin back on which means it would be cheaper to change the barrel. I have the chance to get a big bore barrel and piston for a lot less. I need to know if the larger piston would collide with the larger ss80 valves.
Hope you can help.

Not sure about your piston colliding with valves but...

I would ask around and get several quotations for the barrel repair. I had one done a few years ago by a friend of a friend and it didnt cost that much to do. Also, is your bottom end sound; quite often putting a bit more power through a worn bottom end will accelerate its deterioration.

i would not tune a ss80 they are fragile enough already , try and keep standard
