Hi all,

Can anyone clear up the confusion about the pre-oil in frame A65L side stand.

In the parts books they all have the same number from 1963 to 1970 of 42-4778, although the 1965 issue also lists a 68-4757 for other models.

I have seen some suppliers listing a side stand with the part number 83-1560 but I believe this is for the O.I.F. models?

A second hand side stand has just come up on ebay, which is listed as coming from a 1969 model and has a part number cast into it. It is not quite clear from the photograph but the part number looks like it is: - 67-4889.

What, if any, is the difference between these different part numbers? Does anyone know?

Thanks, Kev Ev

Talking side stands..does anyone know if the advertised stands with a bracket that fits around the frame tube will go onto an A50/65

Kev, I just checked the one on my 1970 Royal Star and there is a similar number to the one you mentioned but the powder coating is too thick to see for definite. However, I did a pencil rubbing and its possible it could be '-4889'.
Bear in mind that this will be raw the casting or forging part no. (I'm not sure if they were SG Iron castings or drop forgings) so it wont be the part no, you see in the manual anyway.
hope this helps

My '68 A50 should be fitted with the same sidestand. I can't see a casting number on it but it looks the same as the 83-1560 on various sources online and not like the picture of 42-4778 in the parts book. However it works well.
